Constructions for chiral polytopes
An abstract polytope of rank n is said to be chiral if its automorphism group has two orbits on flags, with adjacent flags lying in different orbits. In this paper, we describe a method for constructing finite chiral n-polytopes, by seeking particular normal subgroups of the orientation-preserving subgroup of n-generator Coxeter group (having the property that the subgroup is not normalized by ...
متن کاملConstructions and obstructions for extremal polytopes
In the fall of 2001, I was finishing my computer science undergrad studies and Martin Skutella suggested that I take the course " Linear optimization " , a course offered to beginning math grad students and taught by Prof. Günter Ziegler. Following his advice, my fellow student Roman Wagner and I took the course, and failed badly. We lacked the necessary linear algebra and so the teaching assis...

متن کاملUnique Minimal Liftings for Simplicial Polytopes
For a minimal inequality derived from a maximal lattice-free simplicial polytope in R, we investigate the region where minimal liftings are uniquely defined, and we characterize when this region covers R. We then use this characterization to show that a minimal inequality derived from a maximal lattice-free simplex in R with exactly one lattice point in the relative interior of each facet has a...
متن کاملConstructions of Chiral Polytopes of Small Rank
An abstract polytope of rank n is said to be chiral if its automorphism group has precisely two orbits on the flags, such that adjacent flags belong to distinct orbits. The present paper describes a general method for deriving new finite chiral polytopes from old finite chiral polytopes of the same rank. In particular, the technique is used to construct many new examples in ranks 3, 4 and 5.
